Everything is Set

September 5, 2005 - Everything is Set

I guess I still get that feeling about the first day of school. When I was a kid, I loved the first day of school...all the excitement, the new pencils and crayons, meeting your teacher. When I was a public school teacher (yep, that's right), I rarely slept the night before the first day of school. Everything I planned for the next day kept going through my head. Plus, I was excited to meet a new group of youngsters. When my kids attended private school, I was excited for them and all they would learn in the upcoming year.

Now, that we homeschool, I am still excited. I am excited because I anticipate all the cool things we will do, the wonderful books we will read and the interesting conversation we will have. My kids are somewhat excited because they are ready for a new routine. We had a very busy summer as we traveled to conferences and book shows. Once we returned to Idaho, my girls worked for Curriculum Connection Homeschool Curriculum, shipping your orders and keeping the books for us. My oldest is excited because she is already enjoying a very cool class, reading classics. My middle daughter is excited (?) because she can chill a bit on shipping packages. My son is excited because he is attending a boy's school class 3 times a week. He gets to see his friends every MWF from 9 to 10. He even rides his bike to "school". I remember riding my bike to school.

Most of all, they are excited because ice cream is for breakfast in the morning!!!
