Choosing a Topic for Your Best Selling Ebook

Many new website owners have the dream to become an ebook millionaire. They want to set up a website where all the work is done online and you sit back and watch the money roll in. You can become an ebook millionaire, but you need to decide the right topic for your upcoming ebook.

Let’s say you have an idea for a product. You want to write an ebook called The Top Ten Ways to Save Money and Still have a Great Wedding.

If you want to write an ebook about this subject, what’s the first thing you need to do?

Make sure that there’s a market for your subject area. To see if there is a market, do some keyword research. This will determine if a lot of people are interested in that topic. The first place to start your research is with the free version of Wordtracker. Wordtracker will tell you how many people are searching on specific keyword phrases in your niche. It will also show you the number of websites that are competing with that keyword phrase.

Remember the search engines rank each web page for specific keyword phrases. You want to find out a popular topic that doesn't have a huge amount of competition. Some competition is good because it tells you others are making money in that niche.

With Wordtracker, it is very easy to determine how many people are searching on the topic of, let’s say, inexpensive weddings. You can find out what phrases they’re typing into the search engines. Then you can look at all of the related phrases. Next, look up, "inexpensive weddings," "cheap weddings", "cheap nice weddings", "weddings on a budget", "saving money on weddings". You get the picture.

Using tools like Wordtracker helps you find all the permutations, all the different keyword phrases that are available there. Then we determine which key words have high traffic and relatively few competing pages.

When you determine that there is a strong demand for an ebook, you can start choosing the best topics to include in our ebook. You want to look for keywords that have relatively few competing pages so that we won’t be dead in the water before you even start. This will help you set up chapters in your ebook. Then you can begin writing the e-book.
