The books that charmed us in youth recall the delight ever afterwards; we are hadly persuaded there are any like them, any desrving equally of our affections. Fortunate if the best fall in our way during this susceptible and forming period of our lives.
A Bronson Alcott (1799-1888)
Did you notice who said this over 100 years ago? That's right, Louisa May Alcott's dad. She's the one that wrote Little Women, Little Men, Eight Cousins and much more. Her dad knew the importance of reading at a young age. Louisa Alcott read much at a young age. I'm sure the books that stayed with her as wow, awesome and terrific were some of those books read as a child.
Do you remember some of your favorite books from your childhood? I'm sure you STILL think they are the BEST books ever. Be sure you are giving your kids great books to read as a child. These are some of the books that will shape your children's attitude about reading and books for the rest of their lives.
